Marley Faye
Meet Marley Faye!
Meghan and Chad both waited a long time to find each other and have a baby (35 and 46 respectfully) but they were finally blessed with their dream come true!
When they first found out they were pregnant they knew they didn’t want to find out the gender of the baby until they were born. Everyone could not believe they were waiting, but it got easier to wait and got excited about the surprise as the dare drew closer. Both Meghan and Chad enjoyed golf, and gave the baby the nickname “Bogey” (which means plus one) until they were born.
Coming up with two names (boy and girl) proved incredibly challenging for them. They both liked several names and spent hours pouring over family names and baby name sites, trying to find a name they could both agree on.
Meghan’s middle name is Denise after her own mother Marna Denise and if she ever had a daughter, she wanted to name her daughter something starting with an “M” and use he middle name Denise. Meghan also loved more distinct masculine and feminine names.
Chad had many names he liked, and initially preferred names for a girl that ended in “a” or “elle” sounds. For boys, he tended to like very non-traditional names.
For months they went back and forth! They finally narrowed girls names down to two - Marley and Lilah - but they still had a list of five boys names they were considering. They decided to wait until they saw their baby to finalize a name choice.
Even as Meghan’s labor started, they were trying to narrow down boys names to two or three (unsuccessfully). The time caome for the baby to be born and Chad was to announce “boy” or “girl”. They laid the baby on Meghan’s chest and Chad was speechless. Meghan asked, “Well, what is it?” and Chad finally said “It’s a girl!”
After a few minutes of admiring the baby Meghan looked at Chad and asked, “Well does she look like a Marley?” and Chad said “Yes!”
Meghan particularly liked the name Marley because it incorporated the first three letters of her mom’s name, Marna, who passed away in 2010, into the name. The couple decide on the middle name Faye after Chad’s mother and grandmother.
So effectively, Marley is named after both of her grandmothers! And her parents are still so thankful she was a girl, because they probably would have never been able to name a boy!
